PO 245 - (UC) International Political Economy
 
(3 cr.) This introduction to the analysis and understanding of the international economy from a political perspective centers on the increasing internationalization, or globalization, of the capitalist market economy. This is analyzed from three perspectives, each of which raises different political issues and strategies: neoliberalism, economic nationalism (neomercantilism), and Marxism. Current issues dealing with international trade and finance, the environment, third world development and marginalization, and gender/race issues in the international economy are discussed.
