| (3 cr.) A major part of the media environment is now
created by what was formerly called the audience.
This course examines the rise of social media, its
effects on social interaction and the ways in
which it can be used most effectively.
Participants move beyond technical proficiency to
become critical and effective users of a range of
social media platforms, and learn how to foster
and manage communities online. The course requires
significant participation in class and online, as
well as the creation of media and writing on the
Web.
