| (3 cr.) This broad survey course examines public
international law and the principles that
determine to what extent this law is incorporated
within the U.S. domestic legal system. We study a
wide range of treaties and customary international
law, as well as several of the major international
institutions such as the United Nations that play
a role in the international legal framework. We
also consider to what extent international law
operates as a rule of decision for our courts and
as authority for or constraint on actions of the
President, the Congress, and U.S. States.
