About
Nancy Worthington is a Professor of Communications; she teaches courses on media research methods, media and society, global communication, media industries and trends, and media audiences and users. Her research examines media's contribution to culturally constructed identity categories such as gender, race, class, and nation, and their intersections. Professor Worthington's recent studies examining online constructions of gender violence appear in Communication, Culture & Critique; Journalism Studies; and Journalism: Theory, Practice & Criticism. Her current research analyzes the use of social media to critique gender violence representations. She received the School of Communications Outstanding Faculty Scholar Award in 2013, and she chaired the Department of Media Studies 2006-2013.
