PO 354 - Civil Rights and Liberties I
 
(3 cr.) This course considers the Bill of Rights; freedom of expression, freedom of speech, the press, religion and assembly; the establishment clause and the separation of church and state; fundamental rights, substantive due process and the right to privacy; the Fifth, Ninth and Fourteenth Amendments; the equal protection clause and three standards of Supreme Court review; suspect classifications, race discrimination and discrimination against women and the poor; the power to protect individuals and affirmative action. Prerequisite: PO 131 or QU 201; As Needed
