|(3 cr.) This course is for five-year MAT students only.
Students learn what psychology research reveals
about development in children between the ages of
5-14. The class explores the following domains:
sensory-motor, neurological, cognitive, language,
social and emotion. Students learn about
developmental questions that pertain especially to
school-aged children, such as whether IQ can
change, and about influences that may be
particularly powerful, such as exposure to
community violence. The facts of development are
connected to theories of learning, motivation,
intelligence, cognition and cultural psychology
and also are applied to education.
