LAWS 368 - Medicare Law & Policy
 
(2 cr.) The focus of this course is the rights and responsibilities of the beneficiary. It will not cover provider and plan rights and obligations, except as necessary to understand the rights and responsibilities of the Medicare beneficiary. This course will provide an overview of eligibility, and scope of benefits for Medicare Part A (hospital), Medicare Part B (out-patient), Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage, private plans), and Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage), overview of supplemental coverage (Medi-gap policies) and low-income programs for people with Medicare, such as Medicare Savings Programs and the Part D Low-Income Subsidy, and beneficiary appeals for all Medicare programs.
