PT 668 - Psychosocial Aspects of Physical Disability
 
(2 cr.) The course addresses the psychosocial dimensions of physical therapy intervention from therapist and client perspectives. Students practice clinical reasoning and present an integrative case project. Topics include: humanistic philosophy as part of psychological rehabilitation; physical/psychological variables that influence recovery; the clinical reasoning process of PTs therapeutic relationship and client-centered practice; psychological influences on rehabilitation and adaptation including stress and trauma; typical mental health conditions; behavioral management of difficult persons and situations including suicidality, abuse and mental illness; and sexuality and disability-intervention strategies.
