MER 350 - Mechanical Engineering Design

(3 cr.) This course introduces mechanical engineering design as an iterative decision-making process. It also introduces engineering economics and ethics. One engineering design problem reinforces the design process instruction and culminates in a student competition. Students begin an integrative capstone design experience that applies the mechanical engineering design process to a real-world engineering problem addressing social, political, economic and technical issues. Students begin capstone assignments early in the course and continue their projects with MER 498. Prerequisite: MER 250, MER 340; Every Year, Fall
