DR 350 - (UC) Playwriting
 
(3 cr.) The course explores a wide range of playwriting strategies, exercises in technique and innovative methods through which new playwrights may begin to develop an individual voice and unique style capable of communicating their visions. Students read well-known plays of the modern era, analyzing the ways in which individual playwrights have employed conventional and unconventional structures in telling their stories. Students also complete a series of writing exercises designed to develop specific skills. As a culminating exercise, each student produces an original, one-act play.
