SW 504 - Social Welfare Policy
 
(3 cr.) This course provides students with a foundation understanding and appraisal of social welfare policies and programs in the United States, and the historical and contemporary forces that have shaped their development. It introduces conceptual approaches to policy analysis and assesses selected social policies, programs and services in the areas of income maintenance, health care and personal social services. The social work profession's role in the formulation and implementation of social policy and its tradition of advocacy, social action and reform are explored. Social work values regarding the meeting of human needs and the right of all citizens to live in an atmosphere of growth and development are emphasized. Every Year, Fall and Spring
