SW 634 - Clinical Social Work with Substance Abuse and Addictive Behaviors Abuse and Addictive Behaviors
 
(3 cr.) This advanced clinical practice course is open to MSW students who have completed the foundation curriculum. This course teaches the clinical social work student the theories and concepts of addiction especially as it relates to alcohol and other drugs. Students learn basic information concerning selected drugs, current research and approaches to counseling the chemically dependent client and/or family member, the role of relevant systems, and how the addictive behavior affects these systems, and the application of social work values and ethics in the delivery of addiction services.
