SO 280 - (UC) Illness and Disability
 
(3 cr.) This course examines the ways in which society shapes our understanding, experience and definitions of health, illness and disease. Topics include the social factors related to disease such as age, gender and social class; the social roles of medical practitioners and patients; labeling and treatment/mistreatment of the ill and disabled; changing definitions of illness; and the politics of disability. Prerequisite: SO 101; Every Other Year, Fall
