(3 cr.) The relationship between the legislative and executive branches of government in the United States. Readings cover the following issues: the intent of the founding fathers; the evolution of political parties and their impact on relations between the first and second branches; conflicts over foreign policy and war making powers; and the growth of the imperial presidency after World War II.
