EN 260 - (UC) Survey of American Literature I
(3 cr.) This course covers the development of American literature as reflected in the works of major authors and works from Colonial times through the Civil War. Students gain an understanding and appreciation of this literature through study of the cultural background, the literary work itself, and the life of the author. Major authors include Bradstreet, Emerson, Thoreau, Whitman, Hawthorne, Melville and Davis. Prerequisite: EN 101 or EN 102; Every Year, Fall
