| (3 cr.) Students are introduced to the nature and
development of international law as part of the
global political system. Students explore sources
of international law from treaties, custom,
general principles, judicial decisions and
scholarly writing. Other topics include the
connection between international law and national
law; the role of states and individuals; dispute
resolution using arbitration and national and
international court cases; use of law to manage
international conflict; negotiation; and legal
issues concerning shared resources.
