| (3 cr.) This course is designed to provide a general
introduction to the European Union (EU) by
exploring the dynamics of integration of Europe.
The issues discussed relate to the general
theoretical treatment of integration phenomena,
the political economy of integration
of Europe and its membership expansion, and
the structural and behavioral implication of the
Open Market. Of particular relevance to course
discussions are the changing notions of security,
economics, trade, market regulations, cooperation
on the global scene. Special attention is paid to
the single currency (the Euro) and how it impacts
the process of integration in the EU.
