Veterans' Benefits Information
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides education benefits for eligible veterans. Many veterans and active duty personnel may qualify for an education benefit program, including the
- Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)
- Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB, Chapter 30 and Chapter 1606)
- Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP, Chapter 1607)
- Post Vietnam Era Veterans' Educational Assistance program (VEAP, Chapter 32).

Yellow Ribbon Program
Beginning in the fall of 2009, Quinnipiac University has elected to participate in the "Yellow Ribbon Program" which is a provision of the Post - 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. Eligible veterans who are admitted to the University and enrolled in an approved major can qualify for tuition benefits. Effective Aug. 1, 2013, the maximum tuition and fee entitlement for students enrolled in a private institution is $19,198.31 annually. Should there be remaining tuition charges after the entitlement benefits have been applied, eligible veterans can receive additional tuition assistance through a matching program. The institution can contribute up to 50 percent of those expenses and VA will match the same amount as the institution. Quinnipiac voluntarily contributes through its grant and scholarship programs up to $15,000 annually per student.
Veterans should apply for these benefits through their VA Office and notify the financial aid, bursar and registrar offices of their pending application so their financial aid may be coordinated accordingly. The Office of the Registrar handles all VA paperwork for the law school and certification documents should be directed to the "Veterans Coordinator" in that office.
All Yellow Ribbon beneficiaries will be allowed to carry an account balance without penalty if they have received approval from the financial aid, bursar and registrar offices.
