Uniformed Service Scholarship

Vision:

Purpose: To identify and nurture the interest of first year medical students who have served honorably as a member of the uniformed services.  A scholarship will be awarded to a member from any branch of the uniformed services to include active duty, reserved or retired personnel. 

Scholarship requirements: To apply for this scholarship, applicants must:
  • be accepted to the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine and matriculate in Fall 2013
  • submit the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • submitted the 2013-2014 Need Access Application
  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 scale
  • submit a letter of recommendation from a professional (excluding relatives or friends) 
  • write an essay explaining how your uniformed service experience has shaped your desire to attend medical school.  What do you expect to gain from your medical education and how will you use this to help others?
Award amount:  up to $18,000 annually

Application deadline: Feb. 28, 2013 or within two weeks after the receipt of your acceptance to the medical school if admitted after Feb. 15, 2013. All award decisions will be made no later than May 1, 2013.
