Mary Helming, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, AHN-BC is a Professor of Nursing and the Family Nurse Practitioner Track Coordinator. My PhD is in Nursing Science and Spirituality from Union Institute & University, Cincinnati, Ohio. I am also a Certified Advanced Holistic Nurse with many interests in complementary and alternative health, prayer and healing, and holistic nursing practice. I graduated with a BSN in Nursing from Boston College in 1976 and an MSN in Community Health Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner Track from Yale University in 1980. Since, I have worked in family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, and employee and student health, in addition to teaching at Quinnipiac University since 2000. My current practice is in internal medicine and my research interests include spirituality, integrative health, nurse practitioner preparation, and primary care issues. I serve as Associate Editor for Holistic Nursing: A Handbook for Practice and review for two journals. I have published several journal articles and book chapters, in addition. Working with nursing students and watching them grow is a joy for me.
