Family Nurse Practitioner Track

This 75-credit track prepares qualified professional nurses to practice at an advanced level in primary care settings as family nurse practitioners.

The curriculum follows the standards set by the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, the American Nurses Association, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. It provides 1,000 hours of precepted practice, thereby enabling graduates to diagnose and manage most common illnesses, and to assume the responsibilities commensurate with prescriptive authority.

Working independently and collaboratively with physicians and other members of the health care team, program graduates are prepared to provide high quality, cost effective, and holistic and individualized primary care across the lifespan from birth to senescence.

Graduates are eligible to take a national examination for certification as family nurse practitioners.
