Quinnipiac Student Nurses Association (QSNA)
QSNA was founded in 1997 and is led by second-, third-, and fourth-year nursing students. The group is dedicated to providing support and mentoring, learning opportunities and service projects for undergraduate nursing students. Members also take part in activities and events that support the surrounding community, including health fairs, collecting Thanksgiving baskets for local families in need, the annual JDRF "Walk for the Cure" event and food/clothing drives for soldiers overseas.
Each spring, the organization sends a group of senior nursing students to the National Student Nurses Association Convention. The gathering of more than 3,000 nursing students features leadership and career development activities, opportunities to listen to renowned nursing leaders and to hear about job opportunities and networking events.
Tau Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International
Established in 2006, Quinnipiac University's Tau Rho chapter is one of eight Sigma Theta Tau chapters in Connecticut. Sigma Theta Tau is the official honor society of nursing.
As one of the most distinctive organizations in professional nursing, the honor society influences and changes the health of people by engaging the intellectual capital of nurses around the globe. By developing and building connections with diverse people and entities, Sigma Theta Tau chapters enable nurses to collectively and individually develop, create, use and apply their knowledge to make a difference for the greater good of people's wellbeing. The honor society is comprised of chapters that are located on more than 500 college and university campuses internationally. Membership into the Tau Rho chapter is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students, who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
