E-Texts: The Library of American Civilization

The Library of American Civilization (LAC) is a collection of 4,500 titles focused on all aspects of American life and literature from their beginnings to the outbreak of World War I. It includes books, pamphlets, periodicals and documents, many of which are out of print.

Quinnipiac University's Arnold Bernhard Library holds this collection on ultra-fiche, a condensed microfiche medium. In the interests of offering these unusual materials to a larger audience, the LAC titles are being linked to electronic books that are available for free online. Many of these books have been made accessible through important initiatives such as Project Gutenberg and Google Books.
