| (3 cr.) This course familiarizes students with the
principles and methods of epidemiology and their
application to the study of the health of
populations. It focuses on the determinants and
distribution of diseases among groups of people,
examining infectious and chronic diseases,
including diseases and conditions caused by
accidents and violence. Emphasis is placed on
using epidemiologic data for planning and
managing health care services, including
preventive services, developing health policy,
and measuring the outcomes of health care
programs.
