Ensure the Future
A gift through your will or trust can allow you to have a profound impact on Quinnipiac without affecting your current portfolio or lifestyle. Most alumni and friends who leave a bequest to the University choose to direct their support to the endowment because their generosity then provides support to Quinnipiac in perpetuity. Whether it be a scholarship fund, designed to help deserving students afford a Quinnipiac education, or an endowed chair, designed to recognize and retain the very best of our faculty, a bequest to endowment provides support to generations of students and scholars today and in the future.
When you rewrite your will or add a codicil, please consider a charitable bequest.
Ask your attorney to include this suggested language:
"I give, devise or bequeath to Quinnipiac University, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, in Hamden, Connecticut, (insert here a percentage of my estate, an amount in dollars, and/or property such as securities or real estate) for its general purposes or for the following purposes: (a named endowed scholarship, for example)."
Donors are encouraged to designate their bequest or planned gift for a named endowment fund for a chair, professorship or scholarship in their name or in memory of a family member or loved one.
Please let us know if you have included Quinnipiac in your estate plans. We would be honored to recognize you with membership in the Tower Society and we will help you ensure your that plans for the University can be honored.Jay '80 and Cathy Lent: Giving Back
One example of someone who notified Quinnipiac University of a future bequest is Jay Lent '80. Jay rewrote his will for one of the best reasons in the world: he remarried. "I decided my new life with Cathy was an opportunity to take a fresh look at the future and plan accordingly," he said. "It also gave me a chance to give back to the institution that helped me become the person I am today."
In his will, Jay made a provision for the Jay C. Lent '80 Family Endowed Scholarship to be awarded annually to any deserving Quinnipiac undergraduate who demonstrates financial need. By notifying us of his intentions, we were able to work out the specifics of his gift and to welcome him to the Tower Society, an honorary group of more than 100 alumni, parents, faculty and friends who share his vision for a strong endowment to ensure the future of Quinnipiac University.
