Bruce White receives Fulbright-Hays grant
June 4, 2013 - Bruce White, professor of computer information systems in the School of Business, was awarded a Fulbright-Hays grant to teach and lecture in Belarus.
The Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad program provides short-term study and travel seminars abroad for U.S. educators in the social sciences and humanities for the purpose of improving their understanding and knowledge of the people and cultures of other countries.
During the May 20-26 trip, White presented to faculty on information systems curriculum at the Belarusian Trade and Economics University in Gomel, the second largest city in Belarus. He also presented at the "Innovation Technology in Economic and Business Education" conference at the university, which focused on distance education, and facilitated several smaller group discussions.
White traveled to Minsk, the country's capital, to give a presentation on distance education to a group of alumni of American programs at the U.S. Embassy. He also presented on distance education to executive MBA students at IPM Business School.
White also visited BEL BIZ /Tech Minsk, an international entrepreneurship organization in Minsk. His presentation highlighted how technology can change processes and give a competitive advantage. Following the presentation, White heard from six local entrepreneurs on their ideas.
"It was a very productive and interesting week," said White.
