Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The School of Business' master of business administration (MBA) program is designed for both working adults and full-time students.
The MBA program provides individuals with a broad professional education and acquaints them with the theories, principles and strategies needed for successful careers in business. Revamped in 2014, the curriculum is fully reflective of the contemporary and dynamic domain of business practice. The focus of the new curriculum is explicitly placed on students developing their decisionmaking capabilities based on a foundation of core business functions and their interrelatedness. Integral parts of the curriculum include exposure to decision-making models, global business considerations, financial markets and analysis, leadership, organizational behavior and strategy.
Graduates are action-oriented and encouraged to think critically so that they can effectively and immediately apply the competencies and skills acquired in the MBA program to their organizations. Students also have the option of developing domain knowledge through participation in one of the three tracks offered: chartered financial analyst, health care management and supply chain management. Numerous electives are available through which students may customize their experience based on their own professional and other goals.
The MBA program can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis and is also available fully online. The program is a total of 46 credits. This includes a 28 credit core and 18 credits of electives. These flexible elective courses allow students to either focus on one area, creating a concentration within a specific discipline, or take courses across multiple business subject areas, enhancing a broad interdisciplinary perspective.
Electives are available in computer information systems, finance, health care management, international business, management and marketing. Online students can also take advantage of opportunities for an intensive, short term, three-credit international experience.
In addition to the regular MBA program, Quinnipiac offers three specialized tracks:
- Chartered Financial Analyst® certification track—for MBA students whose career choices require more extensive finance training
- Supply chain management track—for students whose careers involve coordinating the functions, processes and enterprise associated with the order-fulfillment cycle
- Health care management track—prepares students for administrative roles in the health care industry.
These programs are also a total of 46 credits.
Courses are offered in a traditional classroom format, online and in a limited-residency hybrid format.
The School of Business and Engineering is accredited by AACSB International, a voluntary national accreditation earned by only 30 percent of the business schools in America.
U.S. News & World Report ranked Quinnipiac in the top 10 of northern universities offering a full range of undergraduate and master-level programs.
The MBA program is one of five in the nation to partner with the Public Relations Society of America to implement a pilot program aimed at enhancing the strategic communication and reputation management education provided to the nation's MBA candidates. The MBA offers a course designed to introduce business students to strategic communication and reputation management.
