Professor of Medical Sciences

Dr. Lisa Coplit completed her medical school, residency, and chief resident training in Internal Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. She is an alumnus of both the Harvard Macy Program for Physician Educators and the Stanford Faculty Development Program in Clinical Teaching Skills. She served for 6 years as the director of the Institute for Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine in New York. In this role, she created programs for professional development and systems of recognition for educators at all levels of training. In 2011, Dr. Coplit joined Quinnipiac University as the Associate Dean for Faculty Development at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine where she developed a robust faculty development program for medical sciences and clinical educators, and co-led the medical education concentration for students. In 2024, she was appointed inaugural Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, leading the office that now serves as the central source of support for faculty appointments, onboarding, promotions, policies, professional development, and well-being. Nationally, she chaired the Academies Collaborative from 2009-2011 and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) steering committee from 2018-2020. She continues to dedicate her career to improving the recognition of educators in the health professions and creating opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and career advancement.
