Chipotle's handling of E-coli outbreak
Andrea Obston, a crisis communications expert who teaches in the public relations program, is available to discuss how the Chipotle chain is handling its reputation after an E-coli outbreak prompted it to close 43 stores in Washington and Oregon.
"In a crisis that involves product safety, your first thought is to demonstrate a loyalty to your customers and a concern for their health -- first and foremost," Obston said. "By closing those stores, Chipotle is purposely and very publicly acknowledging that. Some might see Chipotle's action as overkill, but truly it needs to be big and bold and that's what Chipotle is doing."
If you're interested in speaking to Obston, please call John Morgan, associate vice president for public relations at Quinnipiac, at 203-582-5359 (office) or 203-206-4449 (cell).
