CVS to rebrand as CVS Health and remove tobacco products
Abhik Roy, professor of advertising and chair of marketing and advertising at Quinnipiac University, is available to comment on CVS' decision to remove all tobacco products and rebrand itself as CVS Health.
"CVS is trying to beef up its brand image in the face of competition from smaller pharmacies and non-traditional places, including giant retailers like Wal-Mart," Roy said. "By rebranding as CVS Health, it was a prudent for the company to remove unhealthy tobacco products from its shelves earlier than planned."
