About the Director
Lucie Howell is director of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Center for Science Teaching and Learning.
The center consists of a network of scientists and educators working in concert to advance the art of science education from kindergarten to university level, with a focus on science, technology, engineering and math.
Howell came to Quinnipiac from the University of Michigan where she was the academic program officer for the Center for Engineering Diversity and Outreach. She has prior experience in promoting science education as the outreach program coordinator for Health Occupations Partners in Education at the University of Michigan Medical School. She has also taught many courses, from advanced placement chemistry and physics in high school to undergraduate physics.
She holds a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Sussex, a master's degree in chemical engineering from Imperial College, University of London and organizational psychology from International Programs, University of London, a post-graduate diploma in professional educational studies from Chichester University.
