Center for Excellence Honoree: Vincent RomanoVincent Romano, or Vinny as most people know him, joined Quinnipiac's staff four years ago. In that relatively short time, he already has left an indelible mark on many in the Quinnipiac community. In the words of a physician assistant student, he is a "breath of fresh air," and a source of "cheer and even inspiration" for some when they are toiling through long, hectic days of study and classes. Vinny's good nature and infectious sense of humor are outweighed only by his kindness and interest in other people.
Vinny's ability to get along with everyone makes him perfectly suited for his position: he's the backup man on the university's cleaning crew.Wherever he happens to be assigned, he extends himself far beyond a job well done. He likes working all over campus and being surprised about what his duties are to be, admitting that a varied routine is what he prefers.
Vinny has developed a deep camaraderie with colleagues and students alike. Both on a personal and professional level, his strong belief in family and his sense of community are evident the instant one connects with him. His warmth and passion for those values are embraced by everyone who knows him.
Born in Hamden and raised in North Branford, Vinny is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Nena, are the proud parents of Eric, 13, and Marissa, 9.
"The best part about working at Quinnipiac is the daily interaction with co-workers and the students.Quinnipiac is like my extended family."
"He knows when we have tests and wishes us good luck...you'd be hard-pressed to find someone with such great interest and enthusiasm for a group he could easily ignore."
