March 2, 2012 - 'Jersey Shore' Is A Weed In The Garden State, New Jersey Voters Tell Quinnipiac University Poll; Even Young Voters Say 3-1, 'Snooki Go Away' Word format New Jersey voters, even younger voters, don't want "Jersey Shore" filming in their home town, turning thumbs down 68 - 21 percent, including 69 - 23 percent among voters under 50 years old, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Voters agree 70 - 16 percent, including 70 - 19 percent among voters under 50, with Hoboken's decision to deny permits for "Jersey Shore" to film in Frank Sinatra's home town, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. Voters say 69 - 12 percent, including 69 - 16 percent among voters under 50, that "Jersey Shore" is bad for the Garden State. "Don't belly up to the bar in my hometown, Garden State voters tell the 'Jersey Shore' crowd. Voters think Hoboken was right to tell Snooki and her friends to perform somewhere else," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "In Seaside, where the show started, the house they stayed in is a tourist attraction, but New Jerseyans say the show is bad for the state." From February 21 - 27, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,396 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones.
