November 6, 2000 - Corzine-Franks New Jersey Race Too Close To Call, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Gore Leads Bush 49 - 41 Percent In New Jersey's U.S. Senate race, Republican Bob Franks gets 45 percent of likely voters to Democrat Jon Corzine's 43 percent, a statistical tie, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released today. Twelve percent are undecided. Corzine led 47 - 39 percent among likely voters, with 14 percent undecided, in a November 1 poll by the independent Quinnipiac University. Vice President Al Gore leads Texas Gov. George W. Bush 49 - 41 percent among likely voters, with 5 percent undecided. From November 1 - 5, Quinnipiac University surveyed 770 New Jersey likely voters, with a margin of error of +/- 3.4 percent. Franks leads 52 - 37 percent among men, while Corzine leads 48 - 39 percent among women. Independent voters, who backed Corzine 44 - 38 percent in the Nov. 1 poll, now give him a too-close-to-call 44 - 41 percent margin.
