November 22, 2004 - New Yorkers Say No Thanks To Turkey With Mayor, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Most Plan To Watch Parade, Not Football While Mayor Michael Bloomberg's approval rating has jumped from a negative 37 - 51 percent last Thanksgiving, to a positive 49 - 39 percent this year, New York City voters say 58 - 39 percent that they would not want to have Thanksgiving dinner with the Mayor, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. White voters split 48 - 51 percent on whether to share some turkey with Mayor Mike, while only 28 percent of black voters and 32 percent of Hispanic voters would like to break a wishbone with Bloomberg. Nine percent of New Yorkers plan to see the Thanksgiving Day Parade in person, and 49 percent plan to watch it on television. Less than 1 percent plan to see a football game in person and 38 percent, including 51 percent of men and 27 percent of women, plan to watch a game on television. "Maybe they're just bashful, Mayor Mike, or maybe they're nervous about which fork to use, but most New Yorkers would RSVP 'no' to your holiday invite," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. From November 5 - 8, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,221 New York City registered voters, with a margin of error of +/- 2.9 percentage points.
