March 16, 2012 - Pennsylvania Voters Say Name Stadium For Paterno, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds Word format Pennsylvania voters support 46 - 40 percent renaming Penn State's Beaver Stadium "Joe Paterno Stadium," according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. College football fans support the renaming 55 - 37 percent while non-fans are opposed 44 - 37 percent, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. Voters over 65 years old support the renaming 51 - 32 percent. "There is lingering respect for Joe Paterno," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "One has to wonder: If the Sandusky scandal had never happened whether support for renaming the stadium would have approached 100 percent." From March 7 - 12, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,256 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones.
