“Beyond Two Cultures” conference draws diverse presenters and visitors

More than 90 academic professionals from 15 U.S. states and two foreign countries attended "Critical Thinking and Writing Beyond Two Cultures: STEM, WAC/WID, and the Changing Academy," held Nov. 21 and 22, hosted by Quinnipiac University Writing Across the Curriculum (QUWAC) and the College of Arts and Sciences.


QUWAC hosts 10th annual summer training workshop

Quinnipiac's Writing Across the Curriculum hosted its 10th annual summer training workshop on Aug. 11-14. Faculty participants from departments and programs across the University collaborated on assignment design, outcomes assessment, and other critical thinking and writing tasks.


Six Quinnipiac professors present at international writing conference

Quinnipiac University Writing Across the Curriculum (QUWAC) members made five panel and poster presentations at the International Writing Across the Curriculum's (IWAC) biennial conference held in Minneapolis, Minn., June 12-14, 2014

On May 29, Lauren Sardi, assistant professor of sociology, and Stacy Missari, assistant professor of sociology and internship coordinator, presented on the experiences and difficulties in assessing diversity learning outcomes in sociology.


QUWAC hosts spring faculty writer's retreat

The Quinnipiac University Writing Across the Curriculum and the Research and Writing Institute hosted its biannual spring writers retreat at the College of Arts and Sciences facility at 430 Mount Carmel Avenue on May 21 and 22. The program allows faculty members to take advantage of uninterrupted time to think and write in a collaborative, peer-driven environment.


QUWAC members present on value-added discourse communities at two conferences

Timothy Dansdill, associate professor of English and former QU101 series coordinator, and Paul Pasquaretta, Research and Writing Institute coordinator and adjunct professor, presented on developing value-added discourse communities in a university seminar series at two conferences in May.


Faculty attend annual winter writers retreat

On Jan. 8 and 9, the Quinnipiac University Writing Across the Curriculum faculty committee and the Research and Writing Institute facilitated their biannual faculty writers retreat.
