Award-winning graphic designer and author to speak on Dec. 6
Nov. 14, 2014 - Ram Castillo, an award-winning graphic designer and author of the new book, "How to Get a Job as a Designer, Guaranteed, The Most Effective Step by Step Guide for Design Students and Graduates," will deliver the talk, "The Birth of a Designer," at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Mount Carmel Auditorium in the Center for Communications and Engineering on the Mount Carmel Campus.
Castillo is regarded as a career expert for emerging designers, offering advice that helps students transition from education to working in the real world. During his talk, he will share his strategy for forging an effective path to get hired. In addition, he will discuss the importance of education, design, portfolio creation, networking, interviews and overcoming fears and hindrances that can hold young designers back.
In addition to his book, Castillo's blog, giantthinkers.com, gives tips and advice to design students and graduates looking to land a job. He has been featured in "Communication Arts" and "HOW" magazine, and during his work for Ogilvy & Mather, DDB and McCann Worldgroup, he worked on client accounts for Audi, Qantas, Coca-Cola and The Louis Vuitton Group.
