Graduate Commencement FAQ's 2014

You are included on a list of students who are likely candidates for graduation in May 2014. To be sure that all of your degree requirements will be met by the end of the spring semester, students are urged to meet with their program director.  

Spring mailing
The below will answer some of your preliminary questions.  More detailed information will be mailed to your home address in March 2014.  

Graduation eligibility
Included in the May 2014 commencement ceremony are students who will receive their degrees in January 2014, those who expect to complete their academic requirements by May or October 2014 and those expect to complete clinical affiliations by January 2015.  

Ceremony location and time
Graduate Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2014. The ceremony for the College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business and Engineering, School of Communications and School of Education will take place at 10 a.m.  The ceremony for the School of Health Sciences and School of Nursing will take place at 3 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place in the TD Bank Sports Center on the York Hill Campus.  

Length of ceremony
Each Commencement ceremony is approximately 1.5 hours in length.  

Seating
Each student will receive a total of eight tickets, which will be available online.  Four tickets will be for the basketball arena where the ceremonies take place and four tickets will be for the hockey arena, where the ceremony will be simulcast.  Both arenas are located in the same building (TD Bank Sports Center) and connected by a common lobby area.  More information on the online distribution of tickets will be included in the spring Commencement mailing.   

Parking
Public Safety staff will be on hand to direct you to available parking areas.  Traffic is heavy, especially after 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  Please plan to arrive early to avoid frustration.  

Disabled accommodations
Limited handicapped parking is available.  Please contact Pat Polvani in the Public Safety Office after April 15 at 203-582-8479 for availability. Limited disabled seating is also available.  Further information on requesting disabled seating will be provided in the spring Commencement mailing.   If you are a graduate with disabilities, please contact Gina Frank, dean for graduate student affairs at gina.frank@quinnipiac.edu.           

Photography
A professional photographer is on hand to take your photo as your diploma is presented.  Proofs of these photographs are mailed to graduates along with order forms and information for those wishing to purchase prints.  

Commencement Fair
The Commencement Fair will be held on Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15 on the Mount Carmel Campus and Wednesday, April 16 on the North Haven Campus.  Representatives from all the offices involved in Commencement will be on hand to distribute caps and gowns, go over ticket distribution and answer questions.  Further information will be included in the spring Commencement mailing.
