Faculty attend annual winter writers retreat
Jan. 15, 2014 - On Jan. 8 and 9, The Quinnipiac University Writing Across the Curriculum faculty committee and the Research and Writing Institute facilitated their biannual faculty writers retreat at the College of Arts and Sciences facility at 430 Mount Carmel Avenue.
Faculty members from across the University spent the two days working in a collaborative and collegial setting on a wide variety of projects, including research articles, book-length manuscripts, book chapters, case reports, grant proposals, and novels.
"The retreat is like a writer's paradise," said Kimberly Petrovic, visiting assistant professor of nursing. "We were given the luxury of hours of uninterrupted time to write and work on manuscripts, one of which I submitted for consideration to a relevant journal minutes before the retreat ended. Talk about closure."
Since it began in May 2011, the faculty writers retreat has been a source of inspiration, productivity and publishing success for writers across the University.
The faculty participants included: Lois Church, Anne Eisbach, LaToya Sawyer, and Andri Smith from the College of Arts and Sciences; Carol Dannhauser from the School of Communications; Michelle Broggi from the School of Health Sciences; and Susan D'Agostino, Cory Ann Boyd, Lisa G. O'Connor, Patricia Giannelli, and Petrovic from the School of Nursing.
The next retreat is planned for May 2014. For more information, contact Paul Pasquaretta, director of the Research and Writing Institute.
