John Murillo to read his poetry April 4
Jan. 30, 2013 - John Murillo, a finalist for the 2011 Kate Tufts Discovery Award and the PEN Open Book Award, will read his poetry at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, in the Carl Hansen Student Center, Room 119, on the Mount Carmel Campus.
Murillo's first poetry collection, "Up Jump the Boogie," was named by The Huffington Post as one of "Ten Recent Books of Poetry You Should Read Right Now."
His other honors include a Pushcart Prize, two Larry Neal Writers Awards and fellowships from the Bread Loaf Writers Conference, Cave Canem Foundation, Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Mass., The New York Times and Wisconsin Institute of Creative Writing.
The reading is part a series of open dialogues on creativity and the arts presented by the creative writing program at Quinnipiac. This event, sponsored by the Quinnipiac Bookstore and the English Department in the College of Arts and Sciences, is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
