New associate dean appointed
April 10, 2012 - Sean Reid, associate professor of finance, will step into the role of associate dean of the School of Business and Engineering on July 1. Reid will replace Richard McCarthy, who has served as associate dean since 2008. Also a professor of computer information systems, McCarthy is returning to the classroom full-time.
Reid, who serves as director of the school's Terry W. Goodwin '67 Financial Technology Center, earned a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from Incarnate Word College. He earned his doctorate at the University of Rhode Island.
"Quinnipiac's School of Business and Engineering is on the right trajectory, as you can see from our climbing rankings in U.S. News and Bloomberg Businessweek," Reid said. "Faculty members love working here and students love going to school here. I see my job as working to continue to improve our programs and serve our students."
Quinnipiac conducted a national search to fill the associate dean position, said Matthew O'Connor, dean of the School of Business and Engineering. "We had several outstanding applicants both internally and externally," O'Connor said. "During the interview process, Dr. Reid distinguished himself based on his demonstrated commitment to students, his strong support among the faulty, his stewardship of our introductory business course, his overall professionalism and his leadership experience as Naval officer."
