Feb. 14, 2014 - Quinnipiac will introduce a new master of science in business analytics program in Fall 2014.

"The School of Business carefully monitors what the market needs are for graduate business programs," said Susan McTiernan, associate dean for graduate programs for the School of Business. "The new program in business analytics will fill a genuine need for well-trained individuals with the skills required to manage large amounts of data and leverage it for organizational success."

The 33-credit program, which has been approved by the state of Connecticut, will be offered exclusively online and will feature seven core courses and four electives.

"The program fills a need that is missing in that there are so many jobs that have become dependent on information analysis," said Richard McCarthy, professor of computer information systems. "It's a unique program. It combines statistics, technology, marketing and financial analysis into one unified approach."

McTiernan said the program was designed to provide advanced training in statistical methods, data management and business intelligence and analytics for those who are either working in the field or aspire to work in the field. According to predictions by the International Data Corporation, it is anticipated that the number of openings for skilled business analysts will experience a 7.2 percent annual growth worldwide over the next five years.

"The program at Quinnipiac is designed to offer a high quality, flexible masters that allows for business electives to those who will seek these opportunities," McTiernan said.

U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Quinnipiac ninth overall for 2014 Best Online Graduate Business Programs in the United States. The school is fully accredited by the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The school is also ranked among the "Top 100" in the 2013 Bloomberg Businessweek annual survey of undergraduate programs.

Quinnipiac also offers five other online graduate programs: master of business administration, master of science in organizational leadership, master of science in information technology, master of science in interactive media and a master of science in teacher leadership. The University also offers online bachelor's degree programs in health science studies and nursing.
