Students collect donations to assist those impacted by storm

Clothes drive for Superstorm Sandy
Beverly Jurkiewicz of Hamden, left, donated a bag of clothes to Erica Miccoli on Nov. 12, before Quinnipiac men’s basketball’s home opener at the TD Bank Sports Center.

Nov. 13, 2012 - Quinnipiac freshmen are collecting donations and clothes to support those impacted by Superstorm Sandy.

The effort is part of the QU-101: The Individual in the Community class, an interdisciplinary seminar for first-semester freshmen.

The class explores specific individual-community relationships at Quinnipiac. Sections examine the concept of community historically, in literature and from the perspective of the social and natural sciences, and explore topics such as: the relationship between individual and community identities; forms of engagement in communities; the rights and responsibilities of citizenship; ethics of community life; and diversity and pluralism in community.
