Associate dean appointed

Aug. 31, 2012 - Leslie Neal-Boylan has been appointed associate dean of the School of Nursing. In her new position, Neal-Boylan will be responsible for supporting the dean in leading the school, which has approximately 700 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. Among the associate dean's responsibilities will be to collaborate with the school's program directors to schedule classes, courses and facilities; assess and evaluate programs; and advise students. One of her first major projects will be to lead the team that will prepare a self-study of the School of Nursing for its Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accreditation visit in March 2013.

"Leslie's enthusiasm, leadership experience and research expertise make her an ideal choice to help faculty and staff achieve this vision. We are thrilled to have her join our team."

Neal-Boylan said, "I am delighted and honored to be part of the Quinnipiac University School of Nursing. The dean, faculty and staff have a wealth of knowledge and expertise and I am proud to be among them."

Neal-Boylan holds a doctorate of nursing from George Mason University; a master's degree in nursing from San Jose State University; and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Rutgers University. She also has a post master's certificate as a family nurse practitioner from Marymount University. She also is certified in home health, rehabilitation and rheumatology. Her research areas include nursing workforce issues and registered nurses with disabilities.

The new associate dean is a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, Connecticut Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Society, Eastern Nursing Research Society and Sigma Theta Tau International, the Honor Society of Nursing.

Before coming to Quinnipiac, Neal-Boylan was graduate program coordinator at Southern Connecticut State University. She also has taught at the Yale School of Nursing, where she was an associate professor.
