His Majesties order in Council, upon the petition
of Anne, Dutchess of Hamilton, April 22, 1697.

At the Court at Kensington, the 22d day of April, 1697.

PRESENT.

The KINGS most excellent Majestie in Councill.

Upon reading this day at the Board, the humble petition and ease of Anne, Dutchess of Hamilton, daughter and heir of James, late Duke of Hamilton, his Majesty takeing the same into his Royall consideration, is pleased to order in Councill, that the said petition, and case, (copies whereof are annexed,) be, and are hereby referred to the Right Honnourable, the Councill of trade, for their consideration, and to report the state of the matter with their opinion, what they conceive his Majestie may fitly do therein, for the honnourable petitioners just satisfaction.
