| SHANDON CHURCH, CORK CITY. -Although nor particularly ancient, the Church of St. Anne Shandon, has, because of that sweet singer, the Rev. Francis Mahony, much more widely known as "Father Prout," acquired a popularity equal to that of any sacred edifice in Ireland. The original structure was destroyed by fire and the building of that shown in the sketch was begun in 1722. |
