DONEGAL.- Glenties, Gaelic form, Gleanntaidhe, pronounced Glenty, Irish plural for "the Glens,' which, with the English plural "s" added, forms, according to Dr. Joyce, the present name of the town. It stands at the head of the glens of Stracashel and Glenfada, on the right bank of the Owena river, which empties into Loughross Bay. |
