CAHIRCIVEEN, CO. KERRY.- Some Irish savants, including Doctor Joyce, spell this name, in English, Cahersiveen, but we give the popular form used in the county Kerry. In Gaelic, it is given as Cathair-Saidhbhin, the stone fort of Saidhbhin, or Sabina, a diminutie of the Irish female name Sadhbh (Sauv), formerly, according to the learned Doctor, in very general use, but, in modern times, usually changed to Sarah.
