Quinnipiac Ballroom Society

So you think you can dance? The Quinnipiac Ballroom Society brings students together several times each week to learn the fundamentals of ballroom dancing. Students of all dancing abilities learn new skills and practice their moves in a social and friendly environment.

Dances include the salsa, east coast swing, tango, cha cha and more. The group is student-led, but also has periodic visits from professional dance coaches from a local dance studio.

The group is also making strides in the community through fundraisers and outreach.

One of its biggest events is "Dancing with the QU Stars." The student members pair up with volunteer professors and staff and prepare for weeks for the big event--a judged competition in front of a live audience.

The event raises funds for Camp Sunshine, an organization that provides a camp for children with serious illnesses and their families.

"The cost to send one family for a week to Camp is $2,000 and this is the second year in a row that we are able to do this!" said Danielle Martin '13, co-president of the Quinnipiac Ballroom Society.
